The first TT of the 2020 series got off to a fast start at Donaldson center, Thursday June 25th. Under clear skies and a steady breeze the participants raced the 10 mile course. It became quite obvious that social distancing has not hampered anyone’s fitness as many riders averaged over 22 mph.

In the pro/1/2/3 category Brooks Wienke (Hincape Juniors) and Caleb Smith (Supra) broke the 22 minute mark with some amazing efforts. However Conor Schunk (Aevolo)  obtained boss status with a new course record of 20 minutes and 37 seconds (or 29.5 mph).

The mens Merckx category showcased some major horse power with teammates from Freehub; Josh LaCelle and Luke Barnett finishing in times of 22.11 and 24.29 respectively, each maintaining over 24 mph averages.

The women came out hammering as well with four breaking the 28 minute mark. Tami Leonhardt (4/U), Kristina Mears (P/1/2/3), Julia Norica (4/U) and Laura Calvin (Merckx) averaging ~22 mph in their efforts.

Not to be outdone the Master Men had five dudes break the 25 minute mark. James Martin (60+), Tony Herring (60+), Bill Radler (60+), Pat Norica (50+) and Peter Brown (50+) all of whom lived/remember the “last” pandemic and can still ride their bikes faster then you.

The mens (4/5/U) proved to be the most competitive field with six men  finishing all within 40 seconds of each other while averaging over 23 mph!

We thank all the riders and volunteers for coming out, being safe and we look forward to running it back July 16th.
