It’s time for the Greenville Spinners Monthly Hagood Ride

When: Saturday, Nov. 19
Start Time: 10 a.m.
Place: Furman University in front of Starbucks

Ride: 53 miles
Pace: 14 mph Average Rolling Speed

Plus: KEN DRESCHER will be leading a moderate speed group ride also starting at 10AM. This is a challenging 53 mile ride but can be achieved much easier with a good group of friends riding together. Breaks will be taken at The Starving Artists Cafe in Easley and at Hagood Mill.

PLUS: The Hagood Mill Historic Site will host its annual Native American Celebration Nov. 19.

Demonstrations will include traditional Cherokee blow-gun demonstrations, traditional pottery making, beadwork, basket making, flint-knapping, finger-weaving and bow and arrow shooting.

We gather in the courtyard at Furman near the lake at the Starbucks and Barnes and Noble Book Store and pedal promptly at 10 a.m.

This is the 53-mile route that goes to Easley and Pickens then down to Hagood Mill. The official ride will start and end at Furman, though those who wish to can start in downtown Greenville. A small number of riders meet at Sulley Steamers, located at the corner of Washington St and Main St., for a quick bagel and coffee at 6:45 a.m. and leave for Furman at 9:15 a.m.

There is no charge for this ride but everyone MUST sign a waiver at the start.

The average speed is 14 mph with no one left behind … however, you must be able to keep the stated pace. The ride is rolling with several tough climbs with 3,400 feet of total climbing. Please bring two bottles of fluid. You can replenish at the Starving Artist Cafe in Easely, and there are stores in Pickens, at Hagood Mill and in other areas along the way.

NOTE: There will NOT be a SAG this month. Please plan accordingly.
