October 6, 7, & 8, 2016
DeTour de Skunk is a relaxed charity ride that begins and ends at the Albino Skunk Music Festival off SC-14 a few miles north of Greer. You need not attend the festival to ride (most riders don’t). We have 16 and 34 mile carefully chosen routes marked with signs and road paint.
The routes pass Campbell’s Covered Bridge (16 & 34) and the Poinsett Bridge (34), with a manned refreshment stop at each. Short route is beginner-friendly with some small hills; long route has one climb of note past Camp Old Indian.
Entry fee is $30. You can sign up in advance at the link below, or bring cash or check day-of. Check in starts at 8:00, we roll at 9:00. Riders get a commemorative shirt. Velo Valets will provide pre-ride bike checks and on-call SAG.
Proceeds to benefit the Alex Munoz, guitar player for Nikki Lane. Alex played our festival in Spring of 2016 and is now battling cancer. We’ll be sending our proceeds Support for Alex Munoz at GoFundMe.
Our previous six rides have supported the surviving family of Greenville Police Officer Allen Jacobs, and assisted with catastrophic healthcare costs for musicians Dave Brown and Russ Morin, and Holmes Desmelik, young son of musician Dave Desmelik.
