Dear fellow Greenville Spinners members,
As board members of the Greenville Spinners Bicycle Club and Greenville Spinners Safety Foundation, we want to sincerely thank all of you who responded to our 2020 fundraising mail campaign. The ongoing health situation prevented us from having our annual call-a-thon the first Monday after Thanksgiving, which is our tradition. We had a successful 2020 donation campaign though our totals were a tad below previous years, understandably.
We are reaching out to you now because a gracious Spinners member has offered a special challenge in order to benefit the Greenville Spinners Bicycle Safety Foundation. This member is willing to match all donations made to the Safety Foundation up to $1000. So we have a $2000 potential benefit to further the mission of the Safety Foundation and support this sport we all love.
If we achieve our fundraising goal of $2000, this would equate to 166 helmets we can provide to the vulnerable children in our community. The Greenville Spinners Bicycle Club Board has decided to seed the matching campaign with a $100 donation. We only have $900 to go!
The club would also like to use this opportunity to highlight several SAFETY accomplishments through their support of advocacy organizations like the Palmetto Cycling Coalition (PCC) and Bike Walk Greenville. The PCC recently announced SCDOT’s adoption of a Complete Streets Policy, which prioritizes non-motorized road users in planning and development. The PCC is also currently working to pass a “3-foot passing” rule for cyclists and a “hands free” distracted driving bill in the General Assembly. The Spinners are involved in these efforts and we encourage you to support them as well by contacting your elected officials.
So if you missed out on our 2020 fundraising mailing, and/or would like to get a head start on 2021, all donations received from 2/15/21 through 3/14/21 will count toward this challenge.

We are so grateful for this challenge and for all the support we have received these last 27+ years. Here is hoping 2021 will bring some normalcy where we can once again gather as a club to ride these great roads in the upstate of South Carolina.
